Many Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been bemoaning the lack of impact that Connor Wickham has made for the Owls in his first few matches back at the club, following his performance in their 1-0 defeat at Luton Town.

Garry Monk gave Wickham his debut in Sheffield Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at Barnsley last weekend, and he again named the striker in his starting line-up for the trip to struggling Luton, but the Crystal Palace loanee struggled to really make much of an impact on the game throughout the ninety minutes.

It was hoped that Wickham could come into the club and make an instant impact in helping to replace the goals lost by Steven Fletcher being ruled out through injury, but so far the striker is taking some time to adapt to life back in the Championship with the Owls.

QUIZ: How much do you know about Sheffield Wednesday’s January signings?

A lack of high quality service up to him was a factor in Wickham struggling to get into the game against Luton, and the Owls will be needing to find a way of getting better service into him in the penalty area, if they are going to allow him to prove his worth throughout the rest of the campaign.

Given Wickham had not been featuring heavily for Crystal Palace throughout the opening half of the campaign, and that the forward has been struggling through injury problems in the last few seasons, it was always likely to take time for him to get back up to his best.

Here then, we take a look at what Sheffield Wednesday supporters made of Wickham’s performance on social media…
