Middlesbrough managed to conclude a late loan deal for Everton midfielder Mo Besic who has joined for the remainder of the season.

The tough Bosnian midfielder has suffered with injuries since arriving in England and has failed to win a place in the Everton side under Sam Allardyce.

Therefore, a move seemed inevitable but Boro had to see off a lot of serious competition for the 25-year old, particularly from abroad.

And, speaking to the official website, Besic revealed that Tony Pulis was key in his decision to join the Teesside outfit.

I think he’s a fantastic coach. We spoke on the phone a couple of days ago and I decided to come here. From what I’ve seen it’s a big club and it’s a good opportunity for me.”

I could have gone elsewhere but I decided to stay in England and because of Tony Pulis I came here.”

Besic is now determined to repay that faith Pulis has shown in him.

I want to prove to the manager that it was the right decision to take me and I want to bring the football club forward.”

The Verdict

This is a good signing for Boro and clearly Besic is a big fan of Tony Pulis! There were a lot of clubs interested in the midfielder so it was a bit of a coup to land the Bosnian for Boro.

There’s a lot of competition in that area of the pitch though so Besic will have to prove himself immediately on the training ground.

However, if he plays as we have seen for Everton over the years, he could be a quality player in the Championship.
