The Northern Ireland international has signed a season-long loan deal with Karl Robinson's MK Dons side.

After scoring 20 goals in 41 appearances for Walsall in 2012/13 Grigg signed for Brentford last summer after turning down a new contract at the Bescot Stadium.

However the 23 year-old has struggled to replicate that form whilst at Griffin Park, scoring just five goals in 34 appearances as Brentford won promotion to the Championship last season.

Grigg had been linked heavily with Bristol City this summer but MK Dons have won the race for the striker's signature.

Speaking to the club's official website MK Dons boss Karl Robinson said: “I’m absolutely over the moon. He’s the one I’ve wanted for the last 12 months.

“When he played against us for Walsall, I thought he was an outstanding talent. He’s a name at this level, he’s a goalscorer at this level and he’s an Northern Ireland international too. He’s got the pedigree to come in and do well.

“He’s played in a similar system for Walsall and for Brentford, so he’s used to the way we play. I don’t think he’ll need much integration."

Grigg will now compete for a place in the MK Dons team with fellow new signing Tom Hitchcock who signed earlier in the summer.

Robinson later stated that he is looking for another striker still in the transfer market: “That’s now two natural-born goal-scorers I’ve been able to bring in after Tom and in my ideal world the third one would be a big man so I can change the way we play.”
