MK Dons expected to name Scotsman as new manager

Published

According to a report by The Scottish Sun, Heart of Midlothian manager Robbie Neilson is being lined up by Milton Keynes as their potential new manager.

And the Scottish Sun understands that Robbie Neilson is keen on the job and will quit Hearts after their clash with Glasgow Rangers on Wednesday night so that he can take up the job in Buckinghamshire.

Milton Keynes have been looking for a new boss for a while after Pete Winkelman sacked Karl Robinson after six years at the helm, which included a promotion to the Championship in the 2014/15 season.

Last season, however, Milton Keynes were relegated back to League One and currently sit just above the relegation zone in the third tier.

Winkelman has set his standards high and been rebuffed by England legends Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.

It appears that they have now found their replacement as a Hearts club statement suggested that an announcement on his future was to be made after the Rangers clash on Wednesday whilst Milton Keynes have also stated that no comment will be made until after that match.

Robbie Neilson is expected to take Assistant Stevie Crawford with him and Newcastle Assistant Ian Cathro, as well as ex-Coventry and Fleetwood gaffer Steven Pressley, are in the frame for the Hearts job.

Milton Keynes fans – is Neilson a good appointment? Can he keep you up? Let us know in the comments below…
