The 22 year-old striker joined Bolton back in 2010 from Oldham Athletic but has only made three league appearances in four season with the Championship club.

Eaves spent last season on loan with Shrewsbury Town and Rotherham, scoring only twice in 33 appearances between the two League One clubs. The striker did however score 13 in 25 appearances the season before during spells with Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury.

MK Dons have recently signed Tom Hitchcock from QPR and Will Grigg on loan from Brenford but Karl Robinson is keen to add a third striker to his squad.

Robinson recently revealed to the club’s official website that he was looking for a more physical centre-forward: “That’s now two natural-born goal-scorers I’ve been able to bring in …in my ideal world the third one would be a big man so I can change the way we play.”

With Eaves standing at 6ft 5, he would seem to fit the bill for Karl Robinson as he looks to rebuild the MK Dons squad following last season’s disappointing 10th place finish in League One.

The 22 year-old striker has been heavily linked with Coventry City for the past few months but with the Sky Blues currently looking at Marcus Tudgay it seems they have moved on from the Liverpool-born forward.
