Garry Monk has revealed that David Davis is progressing well with his ankle injury, although forward Isaac Vassell has suffered a setback as he looks to return to the first-team.

Davis fractured an ankle in pre-season but is recovering well, with Monk telling the club's official site that the club are hopeful he will return in four months:

"He has progressed really well, he's got flexibility. The specialists are really happy with him.

"Time frame, you don't know. Some say it could be four months, some say it could be six months, some say it's nine months . . . but the way he is recovering and the way he is doing it, we'd like to think it's at the the lower end."

However, it wasn't such good news for Vassell. The former Luton man has already missed 10 months with a knee injury and was stepping up his own return.

But, Monk explained how he now has a hip knock, which needs looking at by a specialist:

"He is going to see a specialist on Friday. He deals in that type of injury, in that area. Hopefully we will then know more of a time frame after that."

The Verdict

This is good news for Birmingham regarding Davis, as he is a good player when at his best and should now certainly play again this season.

With Vassell, it's not so good.

The fact he has to go to a specialist is worrying and the full extent of the injury won't be revealed until that has happened.

Either way, Monk will just want both players back as soon as possible as they would seriously enhance his current squad which is limited in areas.
