QPR have had mixed updates on the injury front, with youngster Olamide Shodipo set for four months out after requiring surgery on a thigh issue, although a few players are edging closer to a return.

Speaking to the official site, Dr Imtiaz Ahmad, the R's Head of Medical Services, revealed that Shodipo is set for a reasonably lengthy lay-off.

"Mide had a significant tear to his thigh muscle, which required surgery last week. He’s doing ok after the operation but will be out for approximately four months."

Yet, there was a more promising update on key midfielder Josh Scowen, who missed the goalless draw with Birmingham City last time out.

"He’s had a minor injury to his knee. He resumed training today without any problems. We are aiming for him to be available for selection for the Bolton game."

As well as that, Grant Hall is making slow progress after a seven-month absence, with the big defender missing a recent U23 clash as a precaution.

Meanwhile, Darnell Furlong and Sean Goss are also making progress as they step up their returns from injuries, although neither are likely to be in contention in the next few weeks.

The Verdict

This is a big blow for Shodipo personally as it's a serious injury and will be a setback for him as he looks to progress in his career.

However, the news regarding the more senior players is pleasing and Steve McClaren will be glad to have those players back.

It's been a tough start for the R's and they need all the players they have to be fit and available if they are to push on up the league.
