Hull City will be looking to build on a hugely impressive performance in midweek when they return to action this weekend.

The Tigers ran out convincing 4-0 winners against promotion-chasing Preston North End at the KCOM Stadium, so they'll be full of confidence of making it back-to-back wins.

Grant McCann's side travel to Yorkshire to take on relegation-threatened Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday, in what could potentially be a tricky test for Hull.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of their game against the Tykes, McCann revealed that Kevin Stewart would miss the trip to Oakwell this weekend, as well as providing an update on some of his other players.

"Kevin Stewart has picked up a little knock on his foot. He won’t be available.

"Leo has overcome his sickness bug. It’s still too early for Norbert."

Barnsley are without a win since the opening day of the season when they beat Fulham, and will know that their form has to improve as soon as possible if they're to stand any chance of surviving in the Championship this season.

Hull won't be taking any prisoners though on Saturday, as they'll be looking to keep the pressure on the promotion-chasing pack in the second tier with a positive result against Gerhard Struber's side.

The Verdict:

This is more of a frustrating injury update ahead of their game against Barnsley.

I've been impressed with what I've seen from Stewart in particular, and he does the 'dirty work' in the Hull team really well, and it often goes unnoticed.

It's a game where Grant McCann will be hoping that his side can come away from with three points as they look to keep the pressure on the play-off chasing sides in the Championship.

They should have enough about them to cope without the loss of Stewart though.
