Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Santo had the luxury of going into the transfer window with one eye on building for a season in the Premier League next term.

While the rest of the division scrambled around for players to make the difference right here right now in the finely poised race for their respective priorities, Wolves were able to relax.

They knew they had done the work in the summer transfer window to build a squad fit for a promotion season and without losing any players, they looked to have one foot already in the Premier League.

So many Wolves players had enjoyed good seasons that it was clear who was among the deadwood and, to Santo's credit, a lot of them were shifted on.

However, there are still players who could have left the club on loan in search of regular gametime that, unless there is an injury in the Wolves first team, they will not even get close to getting at Molineux.

We have taken a closer look at two players who might have left the club in search of gametime in January...

Bright Enobakhare

Enobakhare would not be "axed" - he is too good for that - and has featured regularly off the bench this season.

However, for the good of his career, I think he needed a loan move to get regular football. It is the only way for him to prove that he is good enough for a Wolves team that is set for the Premier League.

In his attacking position, he is one of the most at risk if Wolves decide to splash big money on further creative talent next summer and if he hasn't had games to show what he can do, Santo might be tempted to let him go for good in the summer.

A loan move, and there would have been plenty of Championship teams willing to take him, would have benefited all parties concerned. I'm surprised he didn't push for gametime elsewhere.

Kortney Hause

Hause is an immensely talented young player, who has found his gametime at a premium, thanks to the form of Santo's first choice backline.

He has had to be patient and bide his time. While he is another I would say is too good for Santo to "axe" - although he really isn't getting a look in - a loan deal would have been beneficial.

Hause is a player who is young, promising and physical enough to deal with the Premier League, if Wolves make it, and would have benefited from exposure to first team football in preparation for that.

Instead, another period of waiting patiently beckons, which is not good for the player or the club.

Wolves fans - do you agree with the suggestions here or are there other players you'd have chosen to axe in the January window? Let us know in the comments below...
