It was a frantic end to the January transfer window in England, with Aston Villa one club who moved late in the window to secure a key deal.

Villa left it late but finally added the striker Steve Bruce was craving, with Lewis Grabban agreeing a loan deal at Villa Park, becoming the second loan addition of the month.

Axel Tuanzebe was another addition to Bruce’s squad, with the versatile 20-year-old arriving at Villa Park on-loan from Manchester United until the end of the season.

Bruce will have been pleased with Villa’s late business in the window, with his side now looking prepared for an automatic promotion push, as they continue to go from strength-to-strength in the Championship.

There were of course exits from Villa Park, but some fringe players stayed put over the course of the month, despite it looking increasingly unlikely they’ll feature under Bruce.

Here at FLW, we take a look at TWO players Villa should’ve moved on…

Micah Richards

There is method behind Villa keeping Richards at Villa Park, with the Birmingham Mail citing that the defender’s role with the club’s youngsters has been impressive.

However, Richards is nowhere near the first-team picture and is picking up a huge amount of money.

January would’ve been a good time for the defender to seek a move elsewhere, but instead he is set to remain in the background at Villa Park.

Gabby Agbonlahor

Agbonlahor has struggled with injuries this season, but there is now a list of strikers ahead of him in the pecking order at Villa Park.

The striker has been a long servant to the club, but ultimately his opportunities will be limited going forward from here.

It was a surprise to see Villa not tempt the striker with a potential move away, and had he been fully fit, we might’ve seen more of an effort.
