Gary Rowett has stated that there is no disadvantage for Derby even though they have less time to recover for their fixture with Millwall on Saturday.

This comes after Derby played Sheffield Wednesday a night after Millwall's victory at Bristol City on Tuesday.

It should be an entertaining fixture with both sides looking to put a run to get into the play-offs. Millwall have been on a surge of late under new manager Rowett, and have lost just once in eight games since he took over as the new boss.

Derby, on the other hand, have had a really inconsistent season that has been filled with off-the-field incidents. Ex-Rams boss Rowett has expressed that he thinks playing a day later doesn't make too much of a difference.

Speaking to the Derby Telegraph about the schedule, Rowett said: “I don’t think it makes much difference.

"It’s just a mentality sometimes, if you play a day earlier then sometimes you feel as though you should have a freshness about you.

“But we have to travel two or three hours, Derby won’t have to travel anywhere."

The Verdict

To be fair, Rowett has a point about the scheduling but playing one day later can effect the legs and recovery but is not something that should have a massive impact on the result of the game this Saturday.

Derby will be hoping they can withhold this exuberant Millwall side of late, and end their recent run of good form. It will be tricky, but there is some extra spice to the fixture with Rowett having managed the Rams in previous years.

The Lions are on a great roll though, and that should make it a good spectacle at Pride Park this weekend.
