Millwall are looking to add Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous to their defensive ranks, according to the Daily Record.
Following an injury to Murray Wallace, Lions boss Gary Rowett told NewsatDen reiterated his desire to sign another defender this month.
Millwall currently have just three centre-halves in Shaun Hutchinson, Jake Cooper and club captain Alex Pearce, and with Wallace expected to miss around one month more of action, Rowett is looking to beat Monday’s deadline and bolster his central-defensive department.
Wallace? Bradshaw? – Can you name which Millwall player scored each these 15 goals this season?
Porteous is a product of Hibs’ academy, and the Daily Record believe that the young defender is one of the best north of the border – with his excellent performances leading to a call-up into the Scotland squad, although he hasn’t yet made his senior debut for Steve Clarke’s team.
Whilst it’s been a difficult window for Rowett, it’s clear that he’s working to improve his squad.
The capture of Maikel Kieftenbeld was a good start for the Lions, but another defender would appear a priority before the window slams shut.
Rowett might still have three central defenders at his disposal, but he often likes to start with all three of those away from home, which would become a major problem if one were to get injured.
