Millwall are eyeing a move for Blackburn Rovers striker Leon Best, reports News at Den

But the Lions face strong competition for the Republic of Ireland striker as Wigan Athletic and Derby County are also said to be interested.

Leon Best is attracting interest from Huddersfield Town
Millwall, Wigan and Derby are said be chasing Blackburn striker Leon Best.

News at Den understands Millwall boss Ian Holloway has spoke with Rovers about taking the former Newcastle United striker on a season-long loan.

Best is believed to be earning around £25,000-a-week at Ewood Park but Blackburn are willing pay most of his wages to get him off the books.

Holloway had enquired about Chelsea youngster Patrick Bamford but was pipped to the 20-year-old by Middlesbrough.

The Millwall boss also doesn't fancy his chances of securing Best and News at Den believe he may make another enquiry for Leeds United striker Matt Smith.

Leeds had rejected a bid from the Lions for Smith last month.
