The start of the 2021/22 Championship season is fast approaching, with Millwall set to start their campaign against QPR on Saturday the 7th of August.

The south London club have done some impressive business so far, adding five new players to Gary Rowett's squad, but they may not be done just yet.

With that in mind, here's the latest Millwall transfer news...

Fresh competition for Millwall target

Preston North End are the latest side to join Millwall in the race for Manchester City striker Liam Delap.

According to MEN, the Lions are among a host of Championship clubs keen to take the 18-year-old on loan for the 2021/22 campaign.

They now face fresh competition from Preston, however, with LancsLive revealing that he is on Preston's radar this summer.

The decision over Delap's short-term future is expected to be made later in the window as he's currently part of City's pre-season preparations.

Gary Rowett addresses Abdul Abdulmalik's future

Despite not yet making a senior appearance for Millwall, Abdul Abdulmalik has proven a talking point over the past few months.

The 18-year-old is out of contract this summer and after rejecting a new deal from the Lions, has been on trial at multiple other English clubs.

Watford are the latest club to run the rule over him and Rowett has been discussing his future in an interview with News at Den.

Pressed on whether he had a future at the south London club, he said: "It’s a good question, I don’t know the answer to that.

“What I do know is that when you’ve made that jump to go out then it puts you in a slightly more difficult situation if nobody signs you.

“I’ve made my feelings my quite clear on that one. My opinion is you only take a player out if you have people that want to sign him.

“If that’s the decision you make, rightly or wrongly, then at least you know it’s going to happen.

“Whereas at the moment it seems to be a young player in a little bit of limbo and I’m not sure that’s fantastic for his career.”

Middlesbrough in no rush to sell assets amid Millwall's links to Chuba Akpom

Chuba Akpom is one of a number of strikers linked with a move to the Den this summer but it seems they may have to wait a little while to sign him.

Neil Warnock has told Gazette Live that he is in no rush to sell any players at the moment.

He said: "We haven’t got many at the minute. We’re a bit short of players at the moment.

"We’ll play that by ear at the moment, but I’m not in a rush to do anything at the moment if I’m honest.”
