Millwall centre-back Jake Cooper has given his verdict on the play-off talk currently surrounding the club after their recent run of good form.

Another win on Tuesday night, an impressive 2-1 win away to Bristol City, edged the Lions towards the top-half and Cooper seems eager to run with the momentum.

“Why not? We’re a club that’s looking forward," he said on the prospect of a play-off push, reported by News At Den.

"We’re certainly looking up the table rather than down. If we can keep that mentality and keep believing in ourselves, who knows?

“It’s a tough league with some great sides in it so we’ll have to be at the top of our game and consistent.”

QUIZ: Millwall through the decade: How much do you remember about the 2012/13 season?

Gary Rowett's side now sit just four points off the top-six following that impressive Tuesday night win.

Millwall took the lead in the 13th minute when some impressive play from Shaun Hutchinson and Mahlon Romeo eventually led to the ball falling to the feet of Jed Wallace, who made no mistake with the finish.

City continued to dominate possession but could not break down their stubborn opponents and with 20 minutes left it was 2-0, Cooper heading home Wallace's free-kick.

It was a win that moved them up into 13th place with 21 games played and Molumby and they will no doubt be keen to see where this impressive run can take them from now on.

The verdict

I like this ambition from Cooper. Why not go for it?

Survival will have been the goal for Millwall this season and anything better than that is a bonus. So they will be charging up the table with very little pressure on them at all.

There is always one surprise package who makes a solid push for the play-offs. A few seasons back it was Millwall as well so it will be very interesting indeed to see how Rowett does this time around.

People will say that Cooper should keep expectations realistic, but why not rouse the fanbase a bit? Everyone wants an exciting season and it looks like the Lions may well have one now.
