Southampton striker, Jonathan Afolabi appears to have joined Championship side, Millwall on trial after appearing on the team-sheet for their under 23's game.

The Lions took on Charlton Athletic on Tuesday and the youngster was named as a substitute (even though his first name is spelt incorrectly).

It was a relatively strong Millwall side that was fielded, with a number of first-team players featuring in the game against the Addicks.

Afolabi is out of contract at the end of the season, which has seemingly lead to other clubs registering their interest in the young forward.

The striker moved to Southampton in 2016 from Irish side, St Josephs Boys but has failed to make a notable impact since joining the club.

Millwall are likely to be in the market for a striker, with a lack of depth up-front for Neil Harris' side this season.

Afolabi has regularly featured for the Southampton under 23's side this season, but is yet to force his way into the Saints first-team picture as of yet.

With his contract expiring in the summer, his future at Southampton looks as though it's only heading in one direction, and that's for the exit door.

The Verdict:

He'd be a good signing for Millwall.

He's a promising young talent and could be worth a punt in the Championship.

Millwall need depth in attacking areas and Afolabi would certainly provide them with that and would be a good signing at this standard of football.
