Millwall goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski has spoken about his side’s form on the road in the Championship, and has urged his teammates to be ‘at it from the off’ against Charlton Athletic this weekend.

Gary Rowett’s second game in charge of Millwall ended in a 2-1 defeat away at Reading. It leaves the Lions 17th in the Championship and with a six-point cushion to the relegation zone.

They’re yet to win away from home in the league this season, and speaking about his side’s poor travelling form, the keeper on-loan from Ipswich Town said:

“We don’t feel pressure, we have been fantastic at home. We just need to transfer that form away from home as well. If we do that then we can compete against anyone and beat anyone.

“We have proved at home this year that if we do everything right then we are unplayable at times and we can beat anyone, so it’s another good test for us.”

Rowett’s side host Charlton Athletic this weekend, and will look to build on some solid home-form of late. Leeds United came to The Den last month and lost 2-1, Cardiff City came and took a point in a 2-2 draw and in Rowett’s first game, he beat his former club Stoke City 2-0.

“There are a lot of positives to take away from the last game” said Bialkowski, “especially in the second half. We just need to do everything we need to do from the first whistle against Charlton.”

“I think we killed ourselves in the first half. They have done a good job on us in the first half and we just couldn’t do anything. Second half when we scored we made them defend and that was better but it was a little too late.”

Charlton are 10th in table having won just one of their last six in the Championship.

The verdict

Lee Bowyer will be expecting a hugely difficult game at The Den on Saturday. Millwall have one of the best home records in the league having taken 14 points from seven home games, conceding just six in that time.

The fans will make for a cagey atmosphere and get right behind their new manager, as Rowett looks to secure Championship football for another season at the club.

Chalrton though have plenty of dangerous players in their team, and they’ll certainly cause Millwall problems at the weekend.
