Millwall are set to allow Byron Webster to leave this month so long as Neil Harris can find a suitable replacement for the defender.

That’s according to South London Press, who are reporting that a League One move is likely for Webster, with Scunthorpe United one side interested in the 31-year-old’s services.

Webster has made just six appearances this season, with only four of those coming in the Sky Bet Championship.

Despite finding himself way down the pecking order at the New Den, Harris will only allow Webster to depart when a replacement is sourced over the course of the next four weeks.

The report claims that an experienced loan centre-back is what is wanted by the Lions.

Currently, Millwall find themselves on an encouraging run of form, which has helped to ease relegation fears on just their second season back in the Championship.

Important wins have been recorded over Reading and Ipswich Town, two other clubs at the wrong end of the table, whilst Harris oversaw a much more impressive triumph over Nottingham Forest.

The Verdict

Webster is at an age where he will be itching to play, so a move to League One does make sense for him.

Of course, Millwall won’t want to leave themselves short, particularly in their current situation in the Championship. A replacement is needed.

For Webster, it’s a case of waiting until that defender arrives.
