Millwall have entered the race to complete the signing of Southend United midfielder Michael Timlin, according to the Southend Echo.
The midfielder was influential for Phil Brown’s side last season as the Shrimpers won promotion to the third tier via the League Two play-offs.
The 30-year-old is yet to agree a new deal at Roots Hall and would become a free agent should terms not be agreed before June 30th, which has alerted Lions’ boss Neil Harris.
It has been reported in the south that the League One club are now set to offer the combative player a contract.
Timlin could welcome the move as he grew up in South London and many of his family and friends are Millwall supporters and still regularly attend games at the New Den.
It had previously been reported that Timlin’s preferred option would be stay at Roots Hall, but speculation has now gathered pace after he rejected the club’s first offer of a new deal.
