Millwall have done a good job this season with them adapting to the Championship very quickly indeed.

Many Lions fans might have been worried they were in for another tough season with their club often finding itself in between the second and third tiers of English football.

This year, though, they have put in some great groundwork in order to stay put in the Championship for a more prolonged spell at least.

Neil Harris and his staff have done a good job, then, and it looks as though the club has pulled off a pretty shrewd move with them bringing in Jason Shackell from Derby County:

The experienced defender had not played much for the Rams this season with Curtis Davies and Richard Keogh forming quite the partnership at Pride Park in defence.

He's got plenty of talent and knowledge to call upon, though, and the Lions should be able to use that as they strive to get mathematically safe in the league as soon as possible.

Shackell, meanwhile, will surely be excited to get playing for his new side and will aim to impress in the coming weeks and months at The Den.

The Verdict

This looks a really good deal.

Shackell is a good player at this level and will be itching to prove himself after falling out of favour at Derby. Millwall should really benefit from that, too.
