Millwall receive player boost ahead of Middlesbrough fixture

Published

on

Daniel Ballard has found himself a first-team regular in the Millwall squad so far this season and there may have been some worries over whether he could play in their next game against Middlesbrough, but News at Den is reporting that he should be available for that tie.

The youngster has been a mainstay in the side so far this season, featuring in 16 games for the club so far this campaign.

It may be his first year playing Championship football but he has taken to it like a duck to water and has already become one of the most solid defenders in the league.

22 questions about Millwall away kits from over the years – Can you get full marks?

What colour was Millwall's away kit in the 1988/98 season?

With the player suffering an issue with his knee then, it would be a blow for the Lions to lose the 22-year-old for any stretch of time.

However, they may not have to worry, as he looks like he could be in line to feature in the club’s next game against Middlesbrough.

Having had an injection for the injury, he may now be able to take part in Millwall’s next Championship game, as Gary Rowett’s men look to try and push their way up and into the top six places in the second tier.

It might mean that he misses out for his country during the current international break but he will at least be able to return to action for his club when Championship football returns next weekend.

Northern Ireland’s loss though is Millwall’s gain – and they’ll be happy to hear he can play a part for the side going forward.

The Verdict

Daniel Ballard has already become a key member of the Millwall team – and so it’ll be good news for the club’s fans to hear that he will likely not miss any playing time with the side.

The defender has been solid for Gary Rowett so far this campaign and he has already made an impression on everyone with the Lions.

It’ll be a shame for the player to miss out on representing his national side but if it means that he can continue to aid his current club side, he is sure to not mind for now. Millwall are harbouring play-off ambitions – and Ballard has a key role to play in that.
