Millwall are set to receive a timely boost to their frontline after Troy Parrott returned to action for Republic of Ireland this weekend.

Parrott is one of Tottenham's most exciting young prospects and secured himself a loan move to the Lions this summer after receiving a ton of interest.

But he's suffered from an injury nightmare since pre-season. An injury to his quadricep in pre-season saw him miss the opening couple of league games, and then his return against Burnley in the EFL Cup saw him suffer damaged ankle ligaments.

Parrott hasn't seen the pitch since the end of September, but he finally got some action today for Ireland's under-21 side, as they went down 2-1 to Iceland in Dublin.

The 18-year-old played 45 minutes which will be music to the Millwall fans' ears, who have been praying for his return as he is such an exciting talent.

It comes at a time where Gary Rowett could use some fresh attacking impetus as well, as they have lost Kenneth Zohore due to a calf injury and they haven't scored in three games.

Did these 17 Millwall players ever actually score a league goal for the club?

The Verdict

This is timely news for the South London club, who already have a solid frontline as it is.

Parrott will now add to Tom Bradshaw, Matt Smith and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson as the striker options for Rowett – and if the chances are created then that foursome should be able to find the net.

Chance creation shouldn't be an issue with Jed Wallace in the team, and Parrott will be looking to prove a point to Jose Mourinho that he is good enough to play senior football and good enough to play a part at Spurs for years to come.
