Millwall's attempts to bring Wolves winger Ben Marshall to the Den appear to have hit a stumbling block or two.

Salford-born Marshall spent the second part of last season on loan at Millwall and helped spur them on to the cusp of a play off place. With Wolves promoted, a move away from Molineux is highly likely.

However, his form at Millwall looks to have made a deal harder to achieve, according to reports in the Birmingham Mail. He contributed five assists as Neil Harris' side surprised everyone by pushing for a top six finish, but that stats has increased his valuation.

The report suggests that the initial valuation of £1m has now risen somewhat, making it more of a challenge for Millwall. Wolves may now look for the £1.2m they spent on Marshall from Blackburn Rovers as a minimum, especially with interest rumoured from Norwich City.

Millwall have yet to make a move in the transfer market this summer.

The Verdict

Any Championship club signing Ben Marshall will be getting a player more than adept at that level. If the price increases by £200,000 then Millwall should pay it. After all, £200,000 isn't going to break the club and what price can you put on goals and assists? What they must not do is get involved in a bidding war and end up paying over the odds.
