According to a report by The Irish Sun, Leicester City's Dylan Watts is being watched by Millwall.

Watts is currently out on loan at Irish Premier Division side Bohemians and his impressive form has alerted Millwall, who have sent scouts to watch the youngster in action.

Leicester signed Watts from Irish side UCD in 2016 and he is out of contract in the summer.

Although the Foxes have an option to extend his contract by one more year, the 21-year-old is not close to first-team action at Leicester and is likely to depart at the end of the season.

With Watts potentially becoming a free agent, Millwall are considering a swoop to pick him up and add him to their squad for the Championship.

It is looking likely that the Lions will remain in the second tier this season after two consecutive losses significantly dented their hopes of reaching the play-offs.

While there is still a mathematical chance of Millwall reaching the play-offs, it would require a nine-goal swing on goal difference for them to leapfrog Derby County and Preston North End also sit between the two sides.

Nonetheless, the young Irishman is on their radar as they prepare for another promotion push next term.

The Verdict

Watts has been impressive for Bohemians in the Irish top tier but there is a big jump between that division and the Championship. While Millwall's scouts will be running the rule over him now, perhaps they should invite him for a summer trial to see if he is ready to cut it at senior level in the Championship. There is no doubting that Watts is a talented young prospect, but Millwall need first-team ready players to push them to the next level.
