Millwall are poised to sign free agent goalkeeper Connal Trueman, which is set to put George Long's position at the club under threat, according to Football Insider

Trueman's 15-year stint with Birmingham City came to an end a few months ago at the expiration of his contract but the Lions have now handed him the chance to stay in the Championship.

Football Insider has reported that the south London club have agreed a deal with the 26-year-old, which is set to see him become their latest summer signing.

Gary Rowett is said to be keen to provide more cover and competition for Bartosz Bialkowski while the report claims that the new arrival has put Long's position at the club under threat.

Long played second fiddle to Bialkowski last term and started in Millwall's EFL Cup defeat to League One side Cambridge United on Tuesday evening but it seems Trueman could be set to move above him in the pecking order.

The free agent keeper has spent much of the past few seasons out on loan with the likes of Oxford United, Swindon Town, and AFC Wimbledon.

The Verdict

It's been a busy transfer window so far for Millwall and it appears that is set to continue with capture of Trueman.

What the 26-year-old's arrival will mean for Long is unclear at this point but the report suggests it has put his position in jeopardy.

Whether that means a move away from the club or just dropping further down the pecking order remains to be seen.

It's certainly a situation to keep an eye on as the end of the window nears.
