Millwall striker Isaac Olaofe will depart The Den in the January transfer window, but it will be a permanent exit instead of a temporary one.

The 23-year-old has spent time out on loan at St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership and also three separate stints with Sutton United since 2020, but now is the time where he is set to gain his experience elsewhere.

Per London News Online, the Lions had accepted permanent offers for Olaofe earlier in the week, and can now reveal that his next destination will be Stockport County of League Two.

The Hatters will pay a six-figure sum to Millwall to sign Olaofe, with a sell-on fee inserted into the deal and also a buy-back clause for the Londoners should the forward flourish and do big things at Edgeley Park.

Olaofe only made his Millwall debut in the current campaign despite being at the club as a professional since 2019, making two Championship appearances in August as well as featuring in the EFL Cup.

The Verdict

Now is probably the right time for Olaofe to spread his wings and develop elsewhere.

It will be doing him no good sitting on the sidelines, and he's about the right age now where the loan deals have to stop and the club have to let him go instead of stalling his development.

Financially, Stockport are one of the powerhouses of League Two, so it is no surprise to see them spend a six-figure fee on a player who has scored goals at the level before for Sutton.

The insertion of a buy-back clause is interesting though - if Olaofe bangs in the goals in the fourth tier then there is a chance that he becomes a Lions player once again.
