Millwall will be looking to round off a perfect week following the international break when they host Barnsley at The Den on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions have recorded successive victories against Wycombe and Luton Town in recent days to move into the Championship's top-six.

Another three points against the Tykes would mean three straight wins for Millwall, something they haven't achieved since New Year's Day 2019 when Neil Harris was still in charge.

Gary Rowett has put together an excellent squad since becoming boss on this day 12 months ago - epitomised by the fact he was forced to leave out Jiri Skalak, Shane Ferguson and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson for last night's game against the Hatters.

Billy Mitchell and Tottenham loanee Troy Parrott were also unavailable due to injury - although the latter hinted on Twitter than he might soon be returning from his injury lay-off.

The 19-year-old hasn't featured this season after suffering a hamstring problem during pre-season.

However, Mitchell's could be back in action sooner rather than later. "Not long until I can get in on the act too," the midfielder said on Twitter after responding to a tweet about the Luton win.

The Verdict

There's no doubt Rowett has an excellent squad at present, but with games coming thick and fast up until the Christmas and New Year period, having everyone fit is going to be key.

Prior to his injury, Mitchell was becoming a regular in the first-team squad and will want to get fit and prove himself in what is already an extremely talented midfielder department at The Den.
