Newly appointed Millwall manager Neil Harris has told News at Den that he can't wait for the fixture release next Wednesday.

After inheriting a Millwall side destined for relegation under the previous leadership of Ian Holloway, which ultimately resulted in relegation from the Championship, Harris is intrigued to see what challenges lie ahead of him and his team for their first season back in League One since 2010.

He said, ''I'm really looking forward to seeing what the start of the season is going to look like.''

The Lions will be without any London league derbies this season and will spend much of their time on their travels in the North of the country, but the former Millwall player has no concern over the different trips he and his side will have to make.

''The local ones are the ones you look forward to and when there’s a big crowd it’s great for the players. There aren’t any really close trips but your Southends and your Colchesters, obviously, stand out and Gillingham is always a good one. It’ll be the local one this year so those sort of games will be key and we’ll have a good away following.''

Consistency, always a key factor in determining how well teams fair over a season, is something that Harris is well aware of as he looks to take his side back to the Championship at the first time of asking. The 37 year old also admitted he is not fussy about who and when his side play.

''The league doesn’t really take shape until about 18 games in. You can be top after 10 games and then disappear, or you can start slowly and come strong at the end. There’s a lot of luck as well because if you’re catching teams when they’re not having a great run you’ve got a great chance of being in the top six. ''But I’m not fussed about who we play and when.''
