Millwall manager Neil Harris has explained that Fred Onyedinma was not involved against Birmingham City because of an injury, according to News Shopper.

Fred Onyedinma was not included in the match day squad to take on Birmingham City in the late televised kick-off last Saturday.

The Lions emerged 2-0 victors courtesy of a Maxime Colin own goal and a Ryan Tunnicliffe strike to pull themselves back up the table but Neil Harris spoke about Onyedinma's injury after the game.

The Millwall boss explained that Fred Onyedinma had pulled out of training and he is not sure yet as to the extent of the injury and how long he will be out for.

Onyedinma joins Shaun Williams and Byron Webster on the injury list with Harris worried about the 20-year-old's absence.

Neil Harris said:

“He pulled out of training yesterday which is a blow because he brings us another option.

“He gives us another attacking threat with his pace and strength.

“He’s been really impressive with his starting performances and off the bench so it was a real blow to lose him. We don't know how long he’ll be out for.”

It looks unlikely at this stage that the youngster will return in time to face high flying Cardiff City.

The Verdict

Fred Onyedinma has been a useful option for Harris this season and he is only getting better.

At just 20-years-old, the youngster is adapting to Championship football very well and has a bright future ahead of him.

Harris will be hoping that this is a minor injury and that Onyedinma is back in the team shortly.
