Mason Bennett will miss Millwall's Championship clash against Derby County on Saturday as the on-loan Rams forward is ineligible to feature against his parent club, according to News at Den.

The 23-year-old has been excellent in his four appearances for the Lions since joining for the remainder of the season from Pride Park at the end of January and provided a fine assist for Matt Smith's second goal in the 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest on Friday evening in just his second start for the club.

But Bennett will be forced to sit out the game against Derby, although he'll be available for Millwall's next league game against Barnsley at Oakwell on Tuesday.

The Verdict

Despite being the newest member of the Lions squad, Bennett's absence is undoubtedly a huge blow and extremely bad timing for Gary Rowett, who would've most likely wanted to have named an unchanged starting XI from the impressive performance and victory at the City Ground.

However, with a host of attacking options in his squad, it could open the door for the likes of Connor Mahoney, who was an unused substitute at Forest, or Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Tom Bradshaw to stake a claim for a more regular place in the starting line-up.
