Millwall have taken the decision to cancel Kenneth Zohore's loan spell with the club early, with the South London Press reporting that the striker will play no part in the club's final game of the season against Coventry City.

The West Bromwich Albion striker has struggled for both fitness and form since arriving at the New Den back in October of last year and as a result it appears that Gary Rowett has taken the decision to finish the deal early.

A Danish born target man, Zohore has only been afforded 10 starts during his stint with the South London club and will now head back to the Midlands after failing to make a lasting impact out on loan.

The 27-year-old was previously signed by the Baggies back in July 2019 from Cardiff City but also failed to repay the faith shown in him at the Hawthorns, thus leading to his temporary departure this term.

With it being said that there is no chance of the Lions looking to strike a permanent deal for the player, he now leaves the New Den after scoring just three times in all competitions.

The Verdict

Millwall's struggles to find a consistent scorer continue as Zohore departs and the club will surely be looking to get someone in that is capable of scoring double figures during the summer window.

The Dane has cut a frustrated and lacklustre figure during his spell in London and will now head back to West Brom with his future very much up in the air.

This feels like a case of déjà vu for the Lions as they experienced similar issues of form and fitness with the loan of Troy Parrott from Tottenham Hotspur.

A striker who can play consistently and score the goals required to get the club into play-off contention next term is something that Rowett will be desperate to look for during the next few months as he looks ahead to the 2021/22 campaign.
