Millwall have had a rather inconsistent start to the season and sit mid-table in the Championship after 16 games of the campaign.

Neil Harris left the club a few weeks ago, and former Stoke boss Gary Rowett has taken over at Millwall.

It was a move that pleased most supporters as they are bringing in a manager with lots of experience in the division and someone who has a good pedigree in terms of his defensive record.

Recently, Rowett has stated that he wants the Lions to be much more clinical in front of goal. This is such a big thing in the Championship especially as a lot of the games that are played are separated by the odd goal on many an occasion.

Since he's taken over at the Den, Rowett has won two out of his three games and seen the side manage to net five times in those fixtures. In the solitary loss that he's undertaken with Millwall at Reading, his side had a large number of chances in the second-half but couldn't find the equaliser.

Again, against Charlton the week after, despite winning the match the Lions could have been out of sight due to the fast start that they had made in the opening 20 minutes of the fixture. Rowett needs his strikers such as Tom Bradshaw and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson to get back on the goal trails and lift them ever close to challenging in that top-half.

The supporters will be happy to see that Rowett is determined to get his side to score more goals this season. This is something that Millwall can often lack, especially away from home and that's been crying out to be changed for a couple of seasons now.

If Rowett can install a clinical nature into his side, it can go along way into deciding the final league position and what sort of objectives the side are going to try to aim for. The fans want to see more goals, even when dominating at the Den, if they can do that then there's no reason a top-half finish isn't achievable.
