It has been revealed that Millwall are keen to bring Stoke City forward Lee Gregory back to The Den for a second spell, according to Football Insider.

The 31-year-old has also been linked with a move to Cardiff City to reunite with former boss Neil Harris, but it is understood that Millwall could hijack the deal with just hours left until the transfer window closes.

Gregory left The Den for Stoke City last summer, but the move to the Staffordshire club has not gone as planned.

QUIZ: Can you name every Millwall player's squad number?

He has scored four goals in 26 appearances this season for the Potters, also contributing with three assists.

The frontman has also not started the last four games for Stoke, and finds himself behind Tyrese Campbell and Sam Vokes in the pecking order at the bet365 Stadium.

That may prompt the 31-year-old to leave the club in search of regular football.

Gregory proved to be a fan favourite during his five year stay in SE16. He joined Millwall in 2014 from FC Halifax Town, going on to score a total of 76 goals for the Lions in 151 games.

The Verdict

This would be a sensational steal for Millwall should they get this deal over the line, with Cardiff being the firm favourites to land the 31-year-old throughout the course of Friday.

Gregory is a proven goalscorer for the club, and is very familiar with the current setup at the Den.

The issue is that if a deal gets done, he would have to compete with Tom Bradshaw and Matt Smith for the No. 9 shirt.
