Millwall have agreed a deal to sign Derby County pair Mason Bennett and Scott Malone according to London News Online.

Bennett spent the second-half of last year's campaign on loan with Millwall, and made nine appearances for the club, whilst chipping in with two goals during the 2019/20 campaign.

He is set to join the club on a permanent basis, after seemingly catching the eye with some impressive performances for the Lions.

Whereas Malone is a player that Millwall supporters will know well, with the left-back making 71 appearances for the club across a three-year spell earlier in his career.

Malone struggled for consistent game time with Derby County last season under the management of Phillip Cocu, with the 29-year-old making 21 appearances in all competitions for the Rams.

He is set to sign on a season-long loan deal with Gary Rowett's side, as they look to challenge for a top-six finish in the Championship next term.

Millwall finished eighth in the Championship table last season, and will fancy their chances of mounting a serious push for the play-off positions in this year's campaign.

Millwall get their 2020/21 league campaign under way with a potentially tricky trip to Stoke City on the opening day of the Championship season on the 12th September.

The Verdict:

This could prove to be a smart bit of business.

It's no surprise to see that Malone is heading for a temporary exit from Derby, as he wasn't guaranteed regular minutes ahead of the new season.

Bennett wasn't ever likely to force his way into Phillip Cocu's starting XI with the Rams, with the likes of Louie Sibley being ahead of him in the pecking order nowadays.

If they can recapture their best form with Millwall, then I really wouldn't be surprised to see the Lions challenging for a top-six finish this season.
