Millwall have been dealt a blow ahead of their game with Swansea City on Wednesday night, with Benik Afobe being ruled out through injury, as per a recent report by News at Den.

The striker rejoined the Lions this season on loan from Stoke City and has since gone on to score two goals in his opening five games under Gary Rowett.

However the frontman's momentum is now set to be stunted after he sustained a knee problem recently, with his manager confirming the following when asked about the player's situation:

"It's a bit of a blow Benik, he had a problem with his knee which we are getting assessed so he won't be available for the next game or two," said Rowett.

As a result of his injury, the former Arsenal youngster missed the 1-1 draw away to West Bromwich Albion and will now be looking to get himself back fit for the next round of games, with the striker also being doubtful for next Saturday's clash with Coventry City.

Afobe is now into his second stint with Millwall, having previously spent time on loan at the New Den back in the 2012/13 season.

The Verdict

This has come as a bit of an unexpected blow for Millwall and the hope will be that they can get Afobe back fit as soon as possible.

The striker does have an unfortunate recent history when it comes to missing games through injury and will also be hopeful that this is just a minor blip.

So far he has had a largely positive impact at a club that he knew well prior to joining and will be keen to add to his goal tally in the future.

If the Lions can get the striker scoring double figures, they could well be in for a great season under Rowett.
