Millwall are set for a big boost ahead of the January transfer window, with winger Jed Wallace set to commit his long-term future to the club.

The 24-year-old has established himself as a key player for the Lions since making the switch from Wolves.

He initially joined on loan as the side won promotion from League One, before the move was made permanent in the summer of 2017.

And, Wallace has been crucial for Neil Harris since, with such form prompting a bid from Middlesbrough towards the end of the previous window.

However, South London Press & Mercury have revealed that the ex-Portsmouth man is very close to signing a new deal that will see him rewarded with a better financial package.

The wide man struck his second goal of the season in the remarkable 4-3 defeat to Norwich last time out, a defeat which left Millwall in 21st position - outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

Wallace is expected to start at The Den on Saturday as Harris' men take on Bolton in what is a huge game for both clubs, with the Trotters two places below the Londoners.

The Verdict

This is great news for Millwall as they would've feared further interest from Boro for Wallace in January.

He has been a superb signing for the club and will be crucial if they are to get out of the worrying position they currently find themselves in.

The player will also hope this long-term commitment can help him rediscover his excellent form from the back end of the previous campaign.
