Millwall and Swansea City are battling it out for Tranmere Rovers winger Corey Blackett-Taylor, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The end of the domestic transfer window for EFL clubs is not until the 16th of October, meaning clubs still have a fair amount of time to make improvements to their squad.

It appears both the Swans and Millwall are keen to do just that as the Daily Mail has reported that both clubs are keen on Blackett-Taylor.

The winger has been missing from Tranmere's matchday squad in recent weeks amid transfer speculation.

Bristol Rovers have been touted with an interest but it appears they're now competing with Championship clubs.

It is understood that the 23-year-old is likely to leave the League Two outfit and would be available for a five-figure sum over the next week.

A product of the Aston Villa academy, Blackett-Taylor joined Tranmere last summer and grabbed five goals and six assists in his debut season at the North West club.

He was particularly effective in their FA Cup run, scoring twice and providing two assists as he helped his side reach the Fourth Road and knock Watford out.

The Verdict

A five-figure sum for an exciting player like Blackett-Taylor looks as though it could be a real bargain, so it's no surprise to see Millwall and the Swans both keen.

The 23-year-old impressed in League One last term and with the right coaching could develop into a really useful attacking option.

There's no guarantee that the former Villa man can succeed at Championship level but at this price, it's certainly worth the risk.
