Huddersfield Town and Millwall are among a host of clubs interested in signing AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on loan in the summer, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

Both the Terriers and the Lions are preparing for life in the Championship, with the former being relegated from the Premier League after a dismal season.

And it is believed that both sides are set to do battle, in the race to sign Cherries goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on loan in the summer.

The 21-year old signed for Bournemouth from Sheffield United in 2017, for a reported fee of around £1million, but has since failed to make a senior appearance for the Cherries.

The England under-21 international, who endured a six-month loan spell with Chesterfield in the 2017/18 campaign, made 23 appearances on loan with AFC Wimbledon in League One this season, helping the Dons pull off a fantastic escape from the relegation zone.

And now, it looks as if Bournemouth want their young goalkeeper to challenge himself in the second tier, with Millwall and Huddersfield reportedly lining up moves.

The Lions will be looking for a new goalkeeper to rival veteran shot-stopper David Martin, with Jordan Archer recently leaving the club.

The Verdict

I think that it's about time Ramsdale challenged himself in the Championship, as that's where most players' careers are properly tested.

He was hugely impressive for Wimbledon in the second half of the campaign in helping them escape the drop to League Two, and has a massive future ahead of him.

Millwall need a new, young goalkeeper to challenge Martin, and Ramsdale would definitely do that.
