Millwall defender Shaun Hutchinson has assessed the Lions' promotion credentials following their impressive 1-0 win against Preston North End at Deepdale.

With Alex Neil's men sat in sixth place, it narrowed the gap to just four points, but Hutchinson is not getting carried away - although admits that they are giving themselves a good chance.

"We’re four points off [sixth] now," he said after the match, reported by News At Den.

"We’ve got Wigan at the weekend and if we go there and get a win you never know, you give yourself a chance.

"If we perform like we did [Saturday] on the road, we’re definitely going to have a chance."

QUIZ: Can you name these 14 Millwall players just by looking at the clubs they have played for?

Preston were unbeaten in their last five heading into this clash at Deepdale but were frustrated early on, Bartosz Bialkowski denying Daniel Johnson and David Nugent in the first half.

As the game progressed, however, Millwall grew into the game more and more with Jayson Molumby and Tom Bradshaw both seeing efforts narrowly miss out on the desired outcome.

However, 12 minutes from time, Hutchinson popped up with his fifth strike of the season, heading home past a stranded Declan Rudd to move his side to within four points of the play-offs.

The verdict

Millwall have a really good chance of getting into the top-six.

The likes of Preston and Bristol City are going to start feeling the pressure, if they are not already, and if they do they may start to falter.

Millwall, and probably Blackburn, have no such pressures in the run-in. Earning a place in the play-offs will have been way above what either set of fans expected so they will have more freedom to go for it.

The support of the Den faithful could be crucial too. They are famously vocal home and away and as long as they keep a positive vibe, there is no question that the play-offs are possible.
