Barnsley secured their return to the second tier of English football last night and it is safe to say that they wasted no time getting started on the celebrations.

Members of the squad were seen hitting the bars of Barnsley after wins for Peterborough United and Fleetwood Town against Portsmouth and Sunderland respectively secured their promotion, along with Luton Town.

Winger Mike-Steven Bahre was one of those out and posted a charming photograph of the club's Player of the Season Alex Mowatt.

Posting to his Instagram story, the German shared a group picture with an arrow leading towards Mowatt with the caption "Best player in League One", along with a series of affectionate emojis.

Barnsley are still in with a very good chance of winning the League One title on the final day, currently sat level on points with the Hatters.

The Tykes travel to Bristol Rovers whilst Mick Harford welcomes an in form Oxford Untied to Kenilworth Road on a day that could go either way.

The verdict

The team spirit in the Barnsley camp has been a huge part of their success this season and this is just another example of it.

Mowatt has been truly excellent this season and it is clear that his teammates agree.

You can bet that Daniel Stendel, as much as he will have enjoyed last night, will be eager to go on to lift the title now.
