Wes Hoolahan's contract with West Brom is due to expire this month, and many supporters will be questioning as to whether they will offer the creative midfielder a new deal.

The 36-year-old has only made five substitutes appearances this season, but is yet to make a start for Darren Moore's side in this year's campaign.

But he did feature against Wigan in their FA Cup win and impressed for the Baggies in his first start of the season.

In an interview with the Express & Star, Moore revealed that talks over Hoolahan's future will be commencing in the near future.

"I’m due to speak to his adviser, he’s coming to the end of his contract.

"I’ll look at addressing that this week, I’ve just got my head down in the Christmas period because it’s been a busy time.

"This week presents an opportunity to speak to Wes and his adviser and look at the best way going forward."

The West Brom boss was also full of praise for the midfielder after his impressive performance against their fellow Championship side at the Hawthorns on Saturday.

"We saw Wes’s intelligence and touch, his ability to be a nuisance in those pockets of space and getting the team moving from back to front," said Moore.

"The only thing is he blew up about 70 minutes, but his contribution was absolutely first class."

It remains to be seen as to whether Hoolahan will sign a new deal, but his future is likely to be resolved in the coming weeks, with his contract due to expire in the near future.

The Verdict:

I'd be surprised if they offered him a new deal.

Hoolahan is an excellent player, and has the creativity to unlock opposition defences with ease at times, but age isn't on his side unfortunately.

He isn't getting anywhere enough game time with West Brom this season and he would just be occupying a spot on the substitutes bench for the remainder of the season, so it would be an odd move if he was to be offered a new contract.
