Midfielder returns to Birmingham City

Published

on

Birmingham City youngster Reece Brown has returned to St Andrews after being dismissed by Chesterfield Boss Gary Caldwell – reports the Star.

The 21-year-old was set to remain with the Spireites until the end of April, but his time at the Proact Stadium has been cut short.

Brown has fallen out of favour with fans after tweeting a picture of a graze on his head, accompanied by a joke about not liking to head the ball.

The tweet was poorly timed, with Chesterfield being in all sorts of trouble in League One. The Spireites have won just two of their past eleven games.

Whether he’ll go straight into under-fire Gianfranco Zola’s first-team plans is unlikely but the news won’t have gone down well with Birmingham supporters, who are in all sorts of trouble of their own after winning just 2 of their last 18 games.

Birmingham managed a 1-1 draw away at Cardiff City this weekend, thanks to a late Lukas Jutkiewicz equaliser. Joe Ralls had opened the scoring with a penalty before former Burnley man Jutkiewicz took the reigns and bundled home an important goal that could see Gianfranco Zola’s tenure extended at St Andrews.

Blues fans- do you see a future for Reece Brown at the club or has he shot himself in the foot once again with his behaviour? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
