Alfonso Pedraza spent the second half of last season on loan at Leeds United and is currently enjoying a more successful loan spell with Alaves in his native Spain.
Playing at left back and in his more comfortable position on the left wing, the 21-year-old has made 20 appearances across all competitions for the La Liga club, netting one goal.
He took to the field 14 times under Garry Monk for Leeds last season, also netting just a solitary goal, but did not impress enough to earn a more long term deal.
He had enjoyed a good first half of the season in the Spanish Segunda – scoring six times and setting up eight more goals for a team-mate – but failed to replicate that form with Leeds.
However, despite that, Pedraza is refusing to rule out a return to England. He told Marca: “When the season ends we’ll see what Villarreal want to do. In [England] I grew a lot as a player and it’s a league that I love. I don’t rule out going back in the future.”
I would be surprised if Pedraza returned to Elland Road but it is clear from his form either side of his time in England that there is a player in there somewhere.
