Bristol City's preparations for the new Championship season are well underway with the Robins announcing their new squad numbers earlier this week and claiming a 2-0 victory in their first pre-season game against Cheltenham Town.

There is plenty of positivity surrounding the South West club after some strong moves in the summer transfer window, with optimism that more progress can be made in the 2022/23 campaign.

As July wears on, we've compiled all the latest City news headlines you might have missed...

Joe Allen interest highlighted

Wales Online has reported that the Robins were keen on experienced midfielder Joe Allen after his Stoke City exit but were unable to offer him the right wage package.

The Welshman rejected an offer to stay with the Potters and now looks to be on the way to Swansea City to replace Flynn Downes.

City have already missed out on free agent midfielder Andy Rinomhota this summer while they were linked with Marlon Pack before he signed for Portsmouth.

Marlos Moreno linked

City are one of a host of EFL clubs that have been linked with Manchester City winger Marlos Moreno.

The 25-year-old has been sent out on loan seven times since joining the Premier League club in 2016 and looks out of favour completely at the Etihad.

AS has reported that the Robins have submitted an enquiry about Moreno but face competition from Norwich City and Sunderland.

Alex Scott hails summer signing

Alex Scott has heaped praise on summer signing Kal Naismith, suggesting he looked "a real leader" in their first pre-season game.

The Scot was Luton Town's Player of the Season in 2021/22 but left to join the Robins when his contract expired to help Nigel Pearson shore up the defensive line.

Via Bristol World, Scott offered his assessment of the new arrival.

He said: "Kal is a top player. We know that he will bring something else to this team I think. He seems like a vocal lad in and around the changing room. It will only help us going forward this season.”

Stefan Bajic reveals Han-Noah Massengo influence

20-year-old goalkeeper Stefan Bajic was announced as City's latest signing earlier this week and the Frenchman has revealed the role that Han-Noah Massengo played in his move.

Speaking to club media, Bajic revealed that he'd asked for the midfielder's advice after the Robins' interest had emerged.

He said: “When I saw that Bristol City wanted to sign me, I spoke with Han-Noah and he told me that it’s a great club, with a great infrastructure and staff."
