Huddersfield Town midfielder Jacob Butterfield says he would be happy to stay at the club if a move fails to materialise, according to The Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

Butterfield will stay at Huddersfield

Butterfield has seen five bids from Derby County turned down by the Terriers, who value the player at around £3.5 million.

Speaking after his club's 1-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers - a defeat that saw the Yorkshire side slip to 23rd in the table - Butterfield said: “It’s all been very public and a bit stressful. I’m constantly getting asked about what is happening. I have just tried to focus on doing what I can do on the pitch for Huddersfield."

“It’s almost a relief to get out on the pitch and just think about football. That’s what I’m paid to do at the end of the day. Hopefully I have put in a few decent performances and shown that while ever I am a Huddersfield Town player, I am fully committed to the club."

“The fans here have been great with me since I signed. I enjoy playing in front of them. My contract has another three years to run, and if nothing happens, I am quite happy to carry on as usual.”

Of the QPR defeat, Butterfield said: “I thought they were fortunate to win and we were unlucky not to win. They punished us for a bit of sloppy defending and a few of their players admitted they robbed us.”

Butterfield has been at Huddersfield since 2014 when he joined from Middlesbrough as part of a swap deal that saw Adam Clayton move the other way.

The 25-year-old has gone on to make over 50 appearances scoring seven goals and is contracted with Chris Powell's men until 2018.

With the transfer deadline drawing ever closer, Butterfield looks likely to stay in Yorkshire unless Derby can meet Huddersfield's valuation of the player with a sixth bid and push through a quick deal.
