Mateusz Klich has confirmed he will be returning to Elland Road in the summer, with the midfielder claiming he has unfinished business with Leeds United.

The Polish midfielder arrived at Leeds just under 12 months ago on a three-year deal, but found his opportunities at Elland Road limited under Thomas Christiansen.

After just nine appearances and under 150 minutes of action for the Whites during the first-half of the season, Klich was shipped out on-loan, with the midfielder returning to the Dutch Eredivisie.

The 27-year-old’s form for Utrecht since returning to Holland has been impressive, with the midfielder confirming that he has been in contact with Leeds, where he claims he has unfinished business.

Klich told Dutch media outlet AD: “I have spoken with them, they want me back.

"The chance that I return is 99%, almost a hundred. I still have a two-year contract. I have unfinished business there.”

Klich started just one Championship fixture at Elland Road, but has put that behind him during the second-half of the season, proving to be influential for Utrecht.

The midfielder has made 14 appearances and scored one goal, which came in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over VVV Venelo.

The Verdict

Paul Heckingbottom has not had a chance to look at Klich since taking over from Christiansen, so it is likely that the midfielder will have pre-season to impress.

There was no real chance for Klich to impress under Christiansen, which was perhaps harsh on the Polish international.

His form whilst out on-loan has shown he has quality, which could open the door for another chance at Leeds, if he can hit the ground running.
