Middlesbrough have not yet received any bids for Britt Assombalonga, despite several Championship clubs circling around him, The Yorkshire Post reports.

Assombalonga has been linked with Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion this summer as speculation surrounding his future refuses to go away.

The 25-year-old has been involved in a training ground row with Tony Pulis which could see him heading for the exit door this summer, just one year after joining.

The former Watford and Nottingham Forest man hit 15 goals for Boro last season but was mainly a second choice to Patrick Bamford under Pulis.

Nottingham Forest are said to be considering a move to bring Assombalonga back to the club, despite already signing Hillal Soudani and Lewis Grabban this summer.

Birmingham are also keen, although they are currently under a transfer embargo preventing them from signing players.

Leeds want a new striker this summer and could turn to the DR Congo international after struggling to land Abel Hernandez, Matej Vydra and Jonathan Kodjia.

West Brom are hoping to snap up Assombalonga as a replacement for Salomon Rondon, who looks set to move to Newcastle United in a £16.5m move.

The Verdict

Assombalonga would be a superb addition for any of these clubs, but only at the right price.

Boro smashed their transfer record to sign the physical centre-forward for £15m last summer and I can't see any other clubs shelling that amount on him.

A loan deal could be on the cards, but Boro should keep him as he is a very useful goal scoring striker at Championship level.
