Middlesbrough are said to be weighing up a summer transfer swoop for Dutch winger, Sheraldo Becker according to Teeside Live.
The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season with Dutch top-flight side, ADO Den Haag where he will be hoping to finish the season strongly.
But Boro face stiff competition to sign Becker though, with the winger currently in a good run of form for the Dutch club.
He’s hit five goals in his last ten games, and his good run of form evidently hasn’t gone unnoticed, and he could be playing his way into a move to England.
Middlesbrough are said to have been interested in signing him earlier in the season, but given that he is out of contract at the end of this year’s campaign, they are confident of getting a deal done for Becker.
The 24-year-old pace and direct style of play has caused opposition defences all sorts of problems this season, and with ten assists to his name, he’s certainly a player at the top of his game.
It remains to be seen as to whether Middlesbrough will enter formal talks with Becker at this moment in time, but it seems likely that he’ll be a man on the move when his contract expires in the summer.
This would be a gamble.
Becker hasn’t had the experience of English football, and when that is the case, there is always an element of risk with a signing like this in the Championship.
But Boro are in a downward spiral at the moment, and sometimes you have to take a gamble, so it would be interesting to see how he got on if he signed along the dotted line.
