Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough are looking to reignite interest in Everton winger Yannick Bolasie, according to reports from the Telegraph.

The 29-year old recently had his loan spell at Aston Villa cut short, after making just nine starts for Dean Smith's men since his loan arrival from Goodison Park in the summer.

Reports claim that Villa, when managed by Steve Bruce, agreed to pay the winger's £70,000-a-week wages in full, despite being hit with several financial issues in the summer.

Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis is looking to oversee a January overhaul at the Riverside, with the North East club willing to listen to offers for Grant Leadbitter, Adam Clayton, Ashley Fletcher and Stewart Downing this month.

The Welsh manager has already said that his Boro side lack pace and power going forward since the departure of Adama Traore to Wolves in the summer, and having already signed Rajiv van la Parra, Boro are now looking to add Bolasie to his ranks.

Tony Pulis' men remain well in the hunt for a play-off finish come the end of the season - Boro currently sit 5th in the Championship table, three points clear of Bristol City in 7th place.

The Verdict

Bolasie would be the perfect signing for Middlesbrough.

If they can strike a deal with Everton to pay only a portion of his hefty wages, then it would be a magnificent coup.

He has pace and trickery in abundance, and would be exactly what Pulis is looking for this month.
