Middlesbrough's transfer window could be set to get even busier in the next few weeks as the start of the Championship season approaches.

Neil Warnock has already been very active in the market, bringing in the likes of Sammy Ameobi, Matt Crooks and Uche Ikpeazu among others and the Teessiders are expecting to add exciting Argentinian Martin Payero to their ranks in the near future.

That's set to happen after the Olympic Games, but there's also more irons in the fire if reports are to be believed - let's look at the latest transfer news coming out of the Riverside Stadium this week.

Boro battling Fulham for striker

According to Brazilian publication Coluna Do Fla, via the Northern Echo, Middlesbrough have been discussing a potential deal for young striker Rodrigo Muniz.

Boro want to secure a season-long loan deal for the Flamengo forward with the option to make it permanent, with both Neil Bausor and Leo Percovich involved in negotiations according to Coluna Do Fla.

They could be set for a battle with Championship rivals Fulham though, who are eyeing up a loan deal with an obligation - not an option - to buy for Muniz, per O Dia, and it remains to be seen who will win the race, if any of them actually do, for a player who has netted five times in the 2021 season.

Defensive duo targeted

Neil Warnock has made no secret of his desire to add a left-sided defender to his ranks, and he's eyeing up both Ciaron Brown of Cardiff City and former Sheffield United man Kean Bryan, per the Northern Echo.

Football League World first confirmed through their sources late last week that Warnock wanted 23-year-old Brown, but another option has emerged in the form of Bryan, who hasn't accepted the Blades' latest contract offer and is now a free agent.

There's a chance that Boro could end up signing both in the coming weeks, but for now Warnock's options remain open.

Spence has Premier League interest

According to Mike McGrath of The Telegraph, Boro's versatile right-sided youngster Djed Spence is attracting Premier League interest this summer.

Everton, Norwich City and West Ham United are all keen on the 20-year-old, who played 38 times for Boro in the Championship last season, but Warnock is reportedly willing to listen to offers for Spence, who hasn't nailed down one particular position on the pitch in his short career so far.

It's unlikely that Spence would be heading to the top flight as a starting player, but his potential sale could help to fund deals for the likes of the aforementioned Muniz and Brown.

Wing departs for Owls

One player who has departed the Riverside is Lewis Wing, who has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan.

The midfielder wasn't a starter under Neil Warnock last season and subsequently spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Rotherham United.

Despite featuring for Boro in pre-season, Wing has headed to the Owls for the 2021-22 campaign and his spot in the squad will no doubt be taken by Payero once his Argentina commitments are finished at the Olympics.
